12 dead and 59 wounded in another mass shooting which seems to be more prevalent in our violent land than other parts of the world. I’m not in favor of banning guns, but there must be some way to keep dangerous crowd-killing firearms out of the hands of psychopaths like James Holmes, even if only by limiting the rounds in the clip and taking assault rifles off the market. Tighter licensing requirements and longer waiting periods would help as well. Of course, the chin-dribblers over at Breitbart.com immediately tried to nudge the specious tale that Holmes was a registered Democrat, a lame attempt at a political smear that they had to later correct. Typically shameless propagandizing on the back of a national tragedy.

Aurora, Colo. July 20, 2012Twelve people were killed and 59 were injured in Aurora, Colo., during a sold-out midnight premier of the new Batman movie “The Dark Knight Rises” when 24-year-old James Holmes allegedly unloaded four weapons’ full of ammunition into the unsuspecting crowd.

He detonated multiple smoke bombs, and then began firing at viewers in the sold-out auditorium, police said today.

Video and Quotes: Despicable Fox ‘News’ Edited Obama Speech to Distort His Meaning
What Obama actually said:
“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet. The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together.”
How Fox News edited it:
“If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that, somebody else made that happen. […]
The point is that, when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together.”
And a desperate Mitt Romney, dogged by questions about his tax returns and Bain Capital, picks it up and runs with it.
And it’s certainly not the first time Fox has pulled this stunt:
