Today’s Music: Fats Waller & Art Tatum, “Georgia On My Mind” (1941)

You’ve heard Ray Charles’ great vocal version, but here a couple of other geniuses take a crack at Hoagy Carmichael’s 1930 melody instrumentally. Fats (Thomas Wright) Waller is first, followed by Art Tatum, and I’ve plum run out of superlatives for both of them. Just listen and you’ll see what I mean.
