After two decades of stupid, obnoxious, sexist, racist, inaccurate, untruthful, fringe-right malevolence, the bulbous clown show that is Rush Limbaugh may have finally reached the end over his extravagant lies about Sandra Fluke and sheer ignorance of how birth control pills work. (No, Rush, you don’t have to take ‘extra’ pills if you have several sexual partners, and the public isn’t paying for them, the health insurance companies are, and don’t mind it: birth control pills are cheaper for them than a pregnancy.)
Ironically, it may be the ‘free market’ that finally spells Rush’s doom as a national political force; like Glenn Beck, advertisers are jumping ship over his latest outlandish remarks and, without advertiser bucks, there is no money to pay Rush’s multi-million dollar contract. As times change and right-wing media in general fades, this is the beginning of the end for Limbaugh.

ThinkProgress is collecting reactions from social media sites like Twitter and Facebook on Storify. Here’s a look at some responses so far:

PETITION: Tell Republican Leaders to Denounce Rush Limbaugh’s Anti-Women Tirade
“What does it say about the college co-ed Susan Fluke [sic] who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex — what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute.”
— Rush LimbaughSandra Fluke, the courageous Georgetown Law student who had the strength to stand up in Congress against Republican attacks on birth control coverage, is now under attack from the right wing.
First, House Republicans refused to let Sandra testify. Now, they think they can shame us into silence. Standing up for women’s health care does not make you a “slut” or a “prostitute.”
Sign our petition right now calling on Republican leaders to publicly denounce Rush Limbaugh’s cruel tirade against women.
